THE CHICKEN COOP
For our oral exam, we have to film our self in front of our favourite spot. I had a little problem, because I live in Elversele and there’s really nothing to see here. Elversele is actually just one street. We only have a little bank, a pharmacy, a newspaper shop and a bakery that’s never open. So I had do look a little further, but then I realised that my favourite spot is in my garden. My favourite spot is actually the chicken coop and the place where my chicken live. You’re probably thinking that it’s a really weird place to be your favourite one, but for me it is very logical. First I’m going to take you on a little journey.
The reason why this is my favourite spot is because I really like chickens and I like being around with them. When I was little I used to play a lot at my best friend’s house. She had a really big garden with a forest, a pool and an tennis court. And in her forest lived around 20 chickens I think. And her father always let us feed them. I really enjoyed feeding them and I was always interested when there were little chicks. So after that I always wanted to have chickens, but my mom wouldn’t let me have them. After a lot of time begging my father got us twelve chickens: a rooster and 11 hens. I really like to spend time with them. The first week after we got them I couldn’t stop watching them. That’s sound a little weird, but that’s the truth. Every morning I give them corn, water and i grab the eggs. It’s really weird to like chickens because most of the people my age like to spend time with their dog or cat, but I like to spend time with my chickens.
A funny incident happened during the summer, a few weeks after we bought the chickens. After feeding them, I forgot to lock the door so the chickens were able to get out of the chicken coop. They were all running around in our garden. They were eating our raspberries, pooping on a lot of places and destroyed my father’s vegetable garden. Fortunately my parent’s weren’t at home. Only my sister was at home and we tried to get them back before my parent’s came home. After a lot of trying we finally got them back by scarring them with a broom and lure them with food.
So this is my favourite spot.
