As resources and whatever gives a hero a bonus are all so essential in the early game, players that do not creep are at a massive disadvantage. There is the more conventional RTS foundation and army building, then there is the dungeon crawl/RPG facet of wow classic gold fighting and levelling your hero, and obtaining some extra resources to aid with the foundation. Nailing this multitasking is one of those game's hardest factors, but it is also why competitive Warcraft 3 is so unique.

If your hero isn't involved in battle with another player, they need to always be creeping. Keep in mind, however, that after a hero reaches level , they will no longer gain experience from fighting creeps.

Should you just happen to need something out of a neutral construction, however the levels of this creeps surrounding you're too high, consider awaiting nightfall. Creeps sleep at nighttime, which means you may rush in and rush out without a danger!
